Just Us Cat and Kitten Rescue to Host Fundraiser September 24, 2023 at 1776
Just Us Cat and Kitten Rescue, a 501 C3 non-profit, will host a fundraiser on Sunday, September 24, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the 1776 Steakhouse. 1776 will donate 25% of their proceeds to Just Us; there will be an 50/50 raffle, silent auction and Just Us merchandise will be available for sale. This is a cash/checks event. Admission is free.
Just Us was formed in 2006, its mission to manage cat and kitten communities in eastern Sussex County. An all-volunteer organization, Just Us serves by performing a variety of functions including rescue, foster, trap, spay/neuter and return. This year, as of August 9, 424 kittens and cats have been spayed/neutered free of charge. Just Us also hosts, along with Catnippers of Long Neck, monthly low cost vaccine clinics; as of July 9 this year alone, over 500 pets have received services there. Volunteers socialize and feed feral colonies, bottle feed when necessary and of course Just Us will try to find a home for every adoptable cat or kitten. Volunteers are always needed to foster and even bottle feed, training will be provided, formula as well.
Just Us works closely with the Brandywine Valley SPCA, local rescue groups and a large no kill shelter in Maryland that accepts adoptable cats and kittens. As of August 9, in 2023, over 900 kittens and cats have been adopted through the Maryland shelter. Volunteers also operate a program at the Brandywine Valley SPCA in Georgetown each Wednesday to evaluate cats and kittens for adoption. Strict standards and protocols are in place to ensure that all cats and kittens taken into the program can be safely adopted.
